Public Display of Affection
Philadelphia
In his first US tour, critically acclaimed comedian André De Freitas returns with his second hour of stand-up, Public Display of Affection.
After spending most of his adult life chasing dreams around the world, André is forced to confront an uncomfortable possibility: maybe he isn’t the hero of his own story.
When his mum gets sick, he begins looking differently at the people closest to him - from the parents he’s never told “I love you”, to the relationship he couldn’t let go of, the friends who know who he really is, and a family that considers a thumbs-up emoji a perfectly acceptable display of emotion.
A funny, sharp and unexpectedly heartfelt hour about growing up, learning to see your parents as people, and discovering that sometimes love isn’t about how you feel - it’s about whether you actually show up.
